Common Mistakes People Make When It Comes to Headaches

Common mistakes people make when it comes to headaches:

  1. Poor posture – It doesn’t matter if you are sitting or standing, if you are there for a long period of time you are possibly putting increased strain through your upper back and neck. Sitting with your shoulders rounded and head forward puts an increased strain through the muscles, leads to decreased healthy blood supply, which can lead to trigger points and tension in your muscles that may cause headaches.
  2. Not taking breaks at work – it is important to take regular breaks to stand up, move your body, do some stretches or even just alter your position. This will help get your blood flow moving and help reduce your muscle tension. Even if it’s a 30 seconds stand up and jump around, its better then nothing!!
  3. Not seeing someone for it! – the attitude of “it’ll go away” might work for the first or second headache, but unless you know what the problem is, there is a high chance your headache will return, and you might be causing lasting issues with your neck along the way. Whether it’s seeing a Doctor for your migraines, or a physiotherapist to assess any underlying neck issues, its always better to get on top of it and learn how to prevent the next occurrence.
